Ganado Advocates’ intellectual property, media and technology practice group is home to the firm’s specialisation in privacy law and data protection. We regularly advise multinationals and local businesses and representative bodies on their Maltese and European data protection obligations, assisting them in filling in the gaps in their policies, processes and third party agreements, advising on complex transactions involving global data transfers and assisting clients deal with instances of breaches including data theft, phishing and spear-phishing attacks, leaks and data losses.

We have represented sectors and constituted bodies in liaising with the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) to publish GDPR guidelines and best practices, as well as legislation. We have also acquired considerable experience in representing clients in proceedings in front of the IDPC and in appeal proceedings before the Appeals Tribunal for Information and Data Protection and the Court of Appeal.
