Practices: General Commercial & Contract Law
2007 is long gone and so is all the intense publicity surrounding the euro changeover in Malta that year. Adapting to the new currency was unnerving for some and seamless for others. Yet, more than five years later, much uncertainty still remains as to the semantic aspects of the euro, more specifically, the proper written use of the ‘euro’ terminology as a term of art in banking, financial and general contract documents. In an effort to streamline the usage of this terminology throughout our law firm, we have researched the subject and drawn pertinent conclusions and preferences for our own internal use only, especially since the official sources we perused provided no prescriptive rules in this respect. You may or may not disagree with our preferences, but we hope you will find this study useful.
